Late last week the National Corn Grower’s Association along with six other groups sent a letter to President Obama asking him to intervene with the EPA regarding their proposed RFS volume cuts. Corn Grower’s Public Policy Director Beth Elliott says the RFS is critical to the entire United States economy.
Elliott says while the volume levels are a major concern, the methodology EPA uses to reach those levels is even more important.
Elliott says if EPA goes forward with their proposal to cut the RFS, it will open up the law and provide even more instability to both farmers and renewable fuel producers. She also expects the decision on the 2014 RFS volume levels to come out as early as the end of this month.
