This week, President Donald Trump signed the agriculture bilateral trade deal with Japan. National Corn Grower’s Association President and Iowa farmer Kevin Ross says Japan is a huge market for U.S .corn growers so they’re pleased to see that pact inked.
He says the Japan trade deal levels the playing field for the U.S. with the other countries who are in the Comprehensive Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership.
Ross says with the agreement with Japan now in the books, it’ll help the U.S. seeing other trade deals, especially with other Pacific Rim nations as well as the pact with Canada and Mexico.
Ross says NCGA is also looking forward to successful completion of phase 2 of the U.S. Japan trade agreement which involves all the non ag provisions.
