Hamilton County Nebraska farmer Brandon Hunnicutt is attending the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Congress this week in Washington D.C. Hunnicutt says they heard from the Mexican Ambassador to the U.S., which is key with the NAFTA renegotiation beginning soon and because they’re one of the most important trading partners for the U.S. for corn and dried distillers grains.
Hunnicutt says NAFTA has been good for America’s corn growers and only minor adjustments are needed in the renegotiation.
He says fostering strong relationships is the key to a successful trade agreement with Mexico or any other country.
Hunnicutt says it’s been a busy Corn Congress this week as NCGA members have been visiting with members of Congress and talking about trade, NAFTA renegotiation, the Farm Bill and the condition of the nation’s corn crop.
Hunnicutt was also elected to serve on the National Corn Growers Association Board of Directors. His term begins October 1.
