A Mexican Senator has proposed that his country stop buying U.S. corn in retaliation for some of President Trump’s stances on Mexico. National Corn Grower’s Market Access Team member Chad Blindauer who farms near Mitchell, South Dakota says the recent proposal by the Mexican Senator is a huge concern for U.S. corn growers.
He says the trade situation with Mexico is a delicate balancing act and the U.S. needs to be careful how they approach that.
Blindauer says NCGA will work with the Trump administration to try and stop any market hiccups and hopefully find a good resolution to this recent problem with Mexico.
Mexican buyers imported almost 28 percent of all U.S. corn sent to foreign markets in the 2015-2016 marketing year.
