The Farm Service Agency has made a modification to allow growers on a farm with one or more tracts outside the administrative county the option to recalculate their ARC county benefits. National Corn Growers Public Policy Action Team Chair Steve Ebke who farms in Southeast Nebraska says anyone wanting recalculation needs to ask for it by February 1 of next year.

He says NCGA had sought the modification and thinks it’s a fairer and better way to calculate farm payments under the ARC County program. Ebke says in his area he actually benefitted from the administrative determination rather than on physical location.

Ebke says the NCGA Public Policy Action committee wants to meet with the National Ag Statistics Service to see if they can make the survey forms easier for farmers to fill out. He’s hoping that’ll lead to more data from which FSA can determine payments.

Under FSA’s modification farmers have until February 1, 2016 to request a recalculation. Producers with any questions should contact their local FSA office.
