The National Corn Growers Association Climate Task Force chaired by South Dakota grower Keith Alverson held their meeting this week in Chicago. Alverson says they made progress in finding opportunities for farmers to battle climate change. He says they’re digging deeper to find a new resiliency in their management techniques as they face weather extremes.
He says the task force is exploring options for farmers to access carbon markets in dealing with climate change.
Alverson says advances in improving soil health taken up by the National Corn Growers Association fits in well with Task Force efforts to help address climate change.
He says they’re also working on helping farmers find ways to adopt carbon neutral practices.
