The Food and Drug Administration has denied a petition from the Center for Food Safety for mandatory labeling of food with genetically modified ingredients. National Council of Farmer Cooperatives President and CEO Chuck Connor is hailing the decision. He says activists were defeated in their attempt to try to say GMO’s are unsafe and the government says they are safe.
He says the FDA ruling supports agricultural technology as being safe.
Connor says FDA’s decision proves they support sound science when determining safety and proper use of agricultural products.
The Food and Drug administration said the petition did not provide sufficient evidence to show foods derived from GMOs differ from non GMO foods in any meaningful or uniform way.
