National Cattlemen Beef Association members and staff are preparing their stakeholder proposal for the EPA to consider as they’re rewriting the Clean Water Act which replaces NWPR and WOTUS. NCBA Chief Environmental Counsel Scott Yager says each stakeholder group hosting roundtable discussions next month will writes their own proposal and sends it to the EPA.
He says those five different regional roundtables will be held virtually. Yager also says they hope to include in their clean water act rewrite proposal less stringent regulations than the 2015 Waters of the U.S. rule.
Yager says NCBA’s stakeholder plan will include some of the more workable provisions of the Trump Era Navigable Waters Protection Rule which was the fix that the Biden EPA threw out that most cattle producers supported.
Yager expects the Biden administration’s EPA to finalize their rewrites sometime in 2022.
