The Environmental Protection Agency plans to repeal and rewrite the definition of the Waters of the United States Rule or WOTUS. The agency announced they’ll repeal the Navigable Waters Protection Rule which replaced the Obama Era WOTUS. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Vice President and South Dakota cattle producer Todd Wilkinson says it’s concerning they’re likely going back to the Obama era WOTUS.

He says it’ll take not only working with Congress to correct this problem but also possibly to continue fighting the issue in court.

Wilkinson says the 2015 water rule was an overreach of government regulation that put restrictions on all waters everywhere, even ponds. He says the Navigable Waters Protection Rule was a reasonable regulation that’s now going away.

Wilkinson says NCBA will make their views known when the EPA holds the public comment period on the new rule and will battle any attempts to reinstate the 2015 WOTUS.
