Over 700 cattle producers attended the NCBA summer business meeting in Denver last week focusing on policy priorities. NCBA President Tracy Brunner says trade is their top priority, because it’s the best way to overcome the recent downturn in the cattle market.
He says topping the trade agenda is getting Congress to ratify the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement yet this year.
Brunner says because the two presumed Presidential candidates are against free trade, his group will concentrate on Congressional races to get their message across.
Brunner says TPP will immediately reduce tariffs and level the playing field for U.S. beef exports to growing markets. It will also grow the economy, support jobs and investments in agriculture and technology.
