NCBA To Comment During Roundtable On WOTUS Rewrite

The Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps are not done taking input on their rewrite of the Clean Water Act or new WOTUS rule. In November and December the agencies will be holding roundtable discussions to solicit that input. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Vice President Todd Wilkinson who ranches near DeSmet, South Dakota says there are several problems with what the government is currently proposing.

The EPA and Corps want to know how different regions are affected by their proposed rule. Wilkinson says while each of those areas may have a different rule interpretation, the feds need to stay with regulating navigable waters. He says if they don’s they’re going to be subject to various court rulings leaving a jumbled mess.

Wilkinson says NCBA will weigh in during the regional roundtables although he believes it would be better if the feds followed what state and local governments do as its related to regulations.

Wilkinson says the Navigable Waters Protection Rule put in during the Trump administration was working but the EPA and Corp decided to throw it out.
