NCBA Testifies Against Possible EPA Groundwater Regulation

NCBA Testifies Against Possible EPA Groundwater Regulation

National Cattlemen Beef Association members testified in front of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee last week on a possible groundwater regulation coming forward from the EPA under the Clean Water Act. NCBA’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall say the rule if enacted would have a detrimental impact on America’s cattle producers.

He says the possible groundwater rule would be worse than the earlier Water of the U.S. regulation.

Woodall says it was fortunate that Committee Chair John Barrasso caught wind of the possible rule and brought it up before his panel.

Nevada rancher and NCBA member Joe Guild testified before the committee and said the groundwater regulation under the Clean Water Act would only lead to unnecessary, duplicative permitting and enforcement, usurping current state authority.
