Last week NCBA member and Washington State cattle rancher Jack Field testified in front of the House Small Business Committee about EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says Field pointed out the negative impact such a rule would have on most cattle producers across the country who are trying to do the right thing environmentally.
Woodall says under the proposed rule, anyone violating it will face a very heavy and cost prohibitive penalty.
Woodall says the study released by a California University Economist last week pointed out the problems with EPA’s rule intended to clarify the Clean Water Act.
The comment deadline on the proposed rule is July 21.
