Chipotle has decided to import Australian grass fed beef and their officials say it’s more responsibly raised than meat produced in the United States. National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says his group takes issue with that statement and says Chipotle is not only out of line but is also putting out false information.
Woodall says Chipotle has a right to use whatever meat they want to use but should not be disparaging the quality of the U.S. product or say that there’s not enough of it available.
He says it isn’t the first time Chipotle has taken an outrageous stance.
NCBA isn’t the only group taking issue with Chipotle on their recent statements about US beef. Texas Ag Commissioner Todd Staples has written the company expressing his concerns about them importing product that’s located more than 8,000 miles away.
