A Coalition of House and Senate members from both sides of the aisle have sent a letter to U.S. Trade Ambassador Katherine Tai asking her to explore having the U.S. engage with the former TPP countries. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Senior Director of International Trade and Market Access Kent Bacus says getting access with the former TPP countries would be beneficial for U.S. cattle producers and help with trade with China.

He says having global trade with those far east nations from the old TPP and China would also be helpful in establishing positive science based and open market access trade rules.

Bacus says having Katherine Tai as USTR and her experience in dealing with China and that part of the world gives the U.S. leg up in pushing forward positive trade pacts.

Bacus says there will still be some political challenges to overcome within the U.S. as we work for future trade deals.
