The past couple of weeks have seen positive movement regarding trade and U.S. agriculture. That’s according to Colin Woodall, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He says both with China and with the European Union. Woodall says the recent trade truce between the U.S. and China leading to further trade war resolution talks and the U.S. threatening tariffs on the E.U. are both positive.
He says not only has there been positive movement for the U.S. with both China and the E.U. but also with Japan as those trade talks continue to progress quite well.
Woodall says another sign that trade discussions are progressing well with both China and Japan is that one of our top beef competitors, Australia is very concerned.
Woodall says NCBA would also like to see Congress get moving and ratify the USMCA. He says one of the biggest challenges will be to get the deal on the calendar for consideration.
