The city of Cleveland is the latest to join the ‘’Meatless Monday’s Campaign’’. City officials say they recognize the benefits of a diet high in fruits and vegetables and is urging residents to participate in Meatless Mondays. National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says the whole campaign pushed by activist groups is based on false information.
Woodall says the activists behind “ Meatless Mondays’’ also charge the beef industry is having a detrimental effect on the environment. He says that’s been proven false as well.
Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman who pushed the resolution says by no means are we saying you should never eat meat. Woodall says that statement makes no sense.
Cleveland has now joined Los Angeles, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Raleigh Durham North Carolina in passing resolutions supporting ‘’Meatless Mondays”.
