NCBA Reviews 2021 Policy Wins

As 2021 comes to a close, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is chalking up several policy wins for the industry. NCBA Vice President of Government Relations Ethan Lane says the largest may be a possible defeat of the $1.75 trillion Build Back Better bill.

Along with that Lane says fighting back the possible tax changes to pay for the Biden Administration’s spending bills was also critical.

He says they also worked hard on policy to improve price discovery and improve slaughter capacity and they continue to work with USDA on the dissemination of the rest of the $500 million of processing grants to bump out shackle space.

Lane says in 2022 they will continue to work on reauthorization of Livestock Mandatory Price Reporting and the large number of EPA regulation revisions. Plus, they expect members to revisit policy regarding cattle market reforms at the annual meeting in February.
