The Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are formally proposing to withdraw the Waters of the U.S. rule. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Craig Uden, a Nebraska rancher says that’s a huge relief.
He says his group is already working with the EPA on the replacement rule. Uden says the agency is hoping to have that completed by April of next year.
Uden says it’s positive that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt understands agriculture and the needs of cattle producers. He says they have a good working relationship which should help with the WOTUS replacement measure.
Most agriculture groups saw the original WOTUS rule as a massive government overreach while environmental groups saw it as a positive rule.
