One ag leader is cautiously optimistic about the Trump administration negotiating trade deals despite recent distractions. One example is a report the the U.S. pulling out of the Paris Climate agreement may be used by other countries against the U.S. in trade deals. NCBA President Craig Uden says he doesn’t see that impacting recent talks with China as they work out protocols for U.S. beef.
He says while the timeline for opening U.S. beef trade with China is mid-July it may take a while before U.S. beef exports ramp up.
Uden says one advantage the U.S. has in finalizing trade deals is the team the Trump administration has put together to work on trade. He says that’s evident in recent conversations he’s had with Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue.
Uden says it’s positive Secretary Perdue is in Canada this week speaking with one of our most important trading partners.
