The Chair of a House Agriculture Subcommittee says Congress won’t consider the U.S. Mexico-Canada trade agreement until November or December. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Jennifer Houston hopes it’s sooner than that and is hoping Congress will take up the ratification debate when they return from the August recess.
She says Democratic leaders in the House seem to be more open about considering the deal and that gives her more optimism than she had in the past.
Houston says getting the USMCA ratified is critical in pursuing other needed trade deals and is the top priority for NCBA.
Houston says trade was their major focus at their just concluded summer business meeting held in Denver.
