This week the U.S. Department of Agriculture along with the Food And Drug Administration held a meeting in the nation’s capital where they heard concerns regarding lab grown or cell cultured meat. Speaking to the agencies was National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s President Elect Jennifer Houston. She says it’s critical the USDA has the regulatory authority over lab grown meat.

She also says any labeling regulations should also come from the USDA.

Houston says what’s most important is that any label that’s required is truthful and transparent.

The agencies held their meeting Tuesday and Wednesday and focused on science, regulatory authority and safety on the first day and labeling on the second.
