Last week Japan and the European Union entered into a bi-lateral trade agreement. That’s concerning to National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Kevin Kester who says the U.S. needs to forge its own bilateral deals as we’re losing market share to other countries.

However, he says he’s encouraged that President Donald Trump has been talking about the possibility of the U.S. entering into a bilateral pact with the United Kingdom.

Kester is also optimistic about the U.S. successfully completing the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement in the near future.

The Japanese-E.U. deal represents one of the world’s largest open economic areas.
