National Cattlemen’s Beef Association leaders are pleased with passage of the Waterways Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation’s Act. It included a provision that changes the EPA’s Spill Control and Counter Measure regulation. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says it provides several exemptions for agriculture regarding the storage of various inputs.
He says the SPCC rules were not meant to be applied strictly to farms and ranchers, but instead large commercial operations and refiners.
Woodall says the passage of this measure comes at a good time with a new EPA administrator coming in who will likely embrace the SPCC changes.
Woodall says NCBA is looking forward to working with the new EPA Chief on these and other regulations impacting agriculture.
