Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the U.S. is willing to talk about possibly rejoining the Trans Pacific Partnership trade pact. He told a U.S. Chamber of Commerce group ‘’it’s absolutely on the table’’. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Kevin Kester says he’s encouraged by the change in stance by the administration after pulling out of TPP a year ago.

He thinks President Trump has learned a lot from agriculture groups about the importance of trade and having a year’s experience in office has helped him see the possible benefits of such a deal.

Kester says if the U.S. follows through with joining TPP, it would bring great economic benefits to not only the cattle industry but all of U.S. agriculture.

The President earlier said he’d be open to TPP. Mnuchin said those remarks yielded positive reaction around the world.
