A Coalition of Activist Groups have filed a formal petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to re-list the gray wolf on the Endangered Species Act. That move isn’t surprising according to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says the process has worked, the gray wolf species has recovered and needs to be left off the ESA list.

He says the Biden administration agrees with NCBA’s stance on the gray wolf and says that species has recovered with high populations in both the U.S. and Canada.

Lane says the population of gray wolves have risen in several states including Minnesota, California, Illinois and many others. He says having states manage them is the proper way to handle those predators.

Lane says one of the scams the activists use is to get a species reintroduced in a specific area in low numbers and then claim it is endangered.
