NCBA Opposes Second Beef Check Off Plan

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is fighting a proposal by Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack to create a second beef check off program that would run at the same time as the current program. NCBA President Bob McCan says there would be additional administrative costs and risks to the entire beef check off if the second program is allowed to go forward.

Past NCBA President Scott George says most of the cattle producers he’s talked to are surprised the Secretary is creating a supplemental check off program.

George says this seems like a major step that doesn’t need to be taken.
