United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has been meeting with Trade officials from the United Kingdom as the U.S. and U.K. continue discussions over a possible trade deal. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Director of International Trade and Market Access Kent Bacus says the U.K. is a great potential market for U.S. beef.

He says it won’t be an easy agreement to carve out as there are several tariff and non tariff trade barriers to overcome.

Bacus says he has full confidence in the USTR’s ability to work out solutions to those barriers with the United Kingdom.

U.K. officials are hoping to complete a quick deal with the United States but Bacus says those types of talks generally take time to work out all the issues necessary to reach a valuable deal for both countries.
