The Omnibus Appropriations Bill has several provisions in it beneficial to agriculture and namely the cattle industry. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says the legislation exempts livestock producers from Comprehensive Environmental, Response, Compensation and Liability rules on emissions reporting.

He says another important component to the Omnibus bill is a 6-month exemption for livestock haulers to comply with Electronic Logging Device Rules.

Woodall says the spending measure also contains a fix to the Section 199A tax deduction for farmers selling to cooperatives and private elevators.

Woodall says its positive Congress came up with the Omnibus bill to fund the government for the rest of 2018.
