Monday the WTO ruled that Canada and Mexico are authorized to seek $1.01 billion dollars in retaliatory damages over the U.S. Country of Origin Labeling law. National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says the Senate must take action this week and repeal COOL.

Woodall says there is no other way to prevent retaliatory damages from going forward.

Woodall adds that if the Senate does not act, U.S. beef exports will face a 100 percent tariff severely diminishing about $ 2 billion of beef exports annually.
