The latest salvo in the Trade War between the U.S. and China has been fired by President Donald Trump calling for imposing $16 billion more in tariffs on China. Chinese officials have already said they’ll retaliate. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says that retaliation will impact more of the U.S. beef industry.
He says there are several trade issues with China and his group is trying to remain patient that the President will follow through and provide a better market situation for cattle producers in the long term.
Woodall says if the administration can reach a resolution on the trade war, China stands as a possible lucrative market in the long run.
Woodall says NCBA wants to make sure that short term pain is as short as possible.
