Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said prior to the recent tentative trade agreement reached between the U.S. and China that China needs to abide by global trade rules. He says if they do that, then the whole world benefits. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane agrees.

He says America’s cattle producers need the Chinese market as there’s a lot of potential beef eaters in that country.

Lane says besides China, NCBA’s goals are to get Congress to ratify USMCA, implementing the farm bill and passing an appropriations bill.

Lane says it’s important that Congress focus on the important issues effecting agriculture rather than just on the politics of the day.
