Japan is creating problems for participating Trans Pacific Partnership Nations in trying to forge a successful free trade agreement. National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says Japan’s attempting to get 11 percent of their tariff schedule exempted from the deal. He says they need to get their tariffs to zero like every other country in the TPP.
Woodall says the TPP is a critically important agreement for America’s cattle producers with or without Japan.
Woodall and other U.S. ag groups have sent their concerns to the U.S. Trade Representative’s office and want negotiators to take a hard line on tariff elimination.
