NCBA Monitoring Environmental Groups Push For Increased Regulations On Agriculture

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is keeping a close eye on environmental groups latest action to get the EPA to apply stricter regulations on agriculture. NCBA Chief Environmental Counsel Scott Yager says it wasn’t unexpected with the latest one being litigation filed to force the EPA to place tougher Clean Water Act standards on packing plants.

He says that follows earlier steps by the environmentalists to get tougher CAFO rules with a petition they filed earlier this year.

Yager says if the environmental groups are successful it will just increase costs for everyone.

Yager says the environmental groups are still waiting on answer from the Trump administration to their CAFO petition. He says the administration needs to respond because if they don’t those groups will proceed with litigation against the government.
