Senate Ag Leaders are continuing to work to find a compromise on a national biotech labeling bill. Livestock groups are asking for an exemption for livestock fed with g-m-o-s. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says the issues is critical for his industry and having the exemption only makes sense.
He says similar steps have been taken by other countries on this same type of issue.
Woodall says the biotech labeling legislation is critical for all aspects of the agriculture industry.
The Senate Ag leaders are trying to find a labeling resolution that addresses what to do about processed foods that contain both meat and genetically modified crops like corn, soybeans, and sugar from sugar beets.
