The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Wednesday held the confirmation hearing for President Biden’s EPA Administrator nominee Michael Regan. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Chief Environmental Counsel Scott Yager says they’re carefully watching to see what he might do with the Navigable Waters Protection Rule and are guardedly optimistic about his appointment.

He’s anticipating the Biden administration will move forward with repealing the Navigable Waters Protection Rule which replaced the Obama era WOTUS regulation.

Yager says several GOP Senators on the committee weren’t happy that former EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy was present at the hearing and are concerned about her influence over Regan if he’s confirmed.

Yager says the concern is that there is no oversight over those new political positions that have been created.
