It’s a busy week in Washington D.C. with several confirmation hearings for President Joe Biden’s nominees. The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is watching closely to see what happens with Tom Vilsack as Agriculture Secretary, Katherine Tai as U.S. Trade Representative and Deb Haaland as Interior Secretary. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says his group is looking forward to working with Tom Vilsack and expects his confirmation to go smoothly.

He says it’s also important to have Katherine Tai in place as USTR and expects that to get approved.

Lane says the confirmation of Deb Haaland to lead the Interior Department looks a bit shakier and they’re watching that as well.

Lane adds that the nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget Neera Tanden may have an uphill climb as she’s recently lost the support of U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
