NCBA Continues To Fight WOTUS In Congress

A resolution to again attempt to nullify the EPA’s Waters of the U.S. rule will be introduced in the House in 2016.  National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says last fall the Senate passed a Congressional review act challenge to strike down WOTUS and he’s hopeful the House will be successful early next year with the same type of measure.

Woodall says he’s disappointed the Omnibus Budget bill recently approved did not include a defunding of WOTUS. He says however a recent government report may help their cause against the rule both in the courts and in Congress.

He does expect the court case against WOTUS to reach the Supreme Court. Woodall also says that next year’s election both in the Presidential and Congressional races could help their cause against WOTUS.

Over 30 states have filed legal action against the EPA and the Army Corps over the Waters of the U.S. rule.  That rule is currently stayed due to a federal appeals court ruling.
