The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has submitted comments to USDA’s Ag Marketing Research Service regarding a proposed change in standards of grading beef. Iowa Cattlemen’s Association President Ed Greiman says the agency is looking at grass fed versus grain fed beef, at cut-ability and yield grade and at how to determine the age of cattle.
Greiman says they want USDA to do more research and explore finding a better way to determine cut-ability.
Greiman says they also want more research done to find out what’s the best way to determine the age of cattle. He says any changes to the standards need to be data driven.
