The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association calls legislation introduced by Senator Corey Booker as misguided. The Farm System Reform Act would place a moratorium on concentrated animal feeding operations or CAFOs. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says the measure would put many feedlots completely out of business and is nothing more than a broad and jumbled mess.

He says the Farm System Reform Act is being backed by anti-animal agriculture proponents and groups supporting that philosophy., and that includes Booker who’s a vegan himself.

Lane says if the legislation were to get approved it would prevent the ability to feed a growing world population as well as hurt the U.S. cattle industry.

Lane says it’s frustrating to see Booker, a new member of the Senate Ag Committee buried in such a misguided and sprawling package with the Farm System Reform bill.
