Late last week at a Senate Finance Committee hearing, Chairman Max Baucus of Montana spoke in favor of passing Trade Promotion Authority legislation. National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says it’s important the President have that and the means to push ahead important trade deals.
Woodall says it would be likely many important trade deals would never be accomplished if TPA isn’t approved.
The TPA legislation being considered requires the U.S. Trade Representative to prepare new rules of engaging with Congress, stakeholders and the public. It also calls for detailed and timely reports and access of information to be given to Congress on any trade deal.
