The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association wants the USDA to further investigate the cattle and beef markets. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says they want a more in depth look at the markets on top of the original investigation following the Holcomb Tyson plant fire.

He says following their request, USDA responded quickly and ensured them there will be a further look into the market price problem.

Lane says many producers feel there is a striking disparity between boxed beef prices and cattle prices in the futures and cash markets during the current Covid 19 pandemic.

Lane says there needs to be continued vigilant oversight of all cattle market participants.
