The working group comprised of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and CME is continuing to meet. NCBA officials are hoping to find solutions in order for futures markets to work better as a risk management tool for producers. NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says they’re still trying to figure out who is having the biggest influence on the markets.

He says they need to figure out what impact high frequency traders are having on the markets.

Woodall says one of the biggest issues they have to deal with is the velocity of the market volatility.

He says the working group is also meeting with all three CFTC commissioners in order to try and find some answers to these futures market problems.
