The National Biodiesel Board has sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency asking that they account for small refinery RFS exemptions that have led to biodiesel demand destruction. NBB Director and Nebraska grower Greg Anderson says they want the EPA administrator to be consistent in developing long term surety for the biodiesel industry to grow.

He says they’re asking the EPA to set RFS biomass based diesel volumes for 2020 at 2.8 billion gallons.

Anderson says they pointed out to the agency that between 2015 and 2017, the demand destruction for biomass based diesel caused by the waivers is more than 300 million gallons.

Anderson says while making their requests to Administrator Andrew Wheeler in their letter, they also thanked the administrator for increasing transparency around the agency’s granting of small refinery exemptions.
