The National Biodiesel Board and soybean farmers are asking the Trump administration to help save small biodiesel producers harmed by the small refinery exemptions. NBB CEO Donnell Rehagen says they’ve written to President Trump outlining their concerns.

He says the economic damage to biodiesel plants is starting to add up.

Rehagen says more than 200 million gallons of U.S. biodiesel production capacity has been idled as a result of policy instability. He says that doesn’t even include the volumes lost during the previous two years.

In their letter, NBB and ASA members asked the administration to first restore the RFS volumes undercut by small refinery exemptions over the past several years and second continue to provide growth for biodiesel and renewable diesel in the RFS program.
