Biofuel group members testified in front a House committee this week about the impact Renewable Fuel Standard small refiner waivers have had on their industry. National Biodiesel Board CEO Donnell Rehagen says the large amount of exemptions granted have caused an economic crisis for the biodiesel industry.

He says a large number of biodiesel and ethanol plants have either closed entirely or significantly cut back production due to the waivers.

Rehagen says those concerned about the viability of the biofuels industry need to make their concerns known to the EPA and Congress as well as the President.

Following the House committee hearing, NBB members gave testimony to the Environmental Protection Agency at one of their hearings asking the agency to fully account for the small refinery waivers.
