The U.S. Commerce Department has granted a request from the government of Argentina to review U.S. trade duties placed on Argentine biodiesel companies. National Biodiesel Board CEO Donnell Rehagen says the move by the Commerce Department came out of left field and his group is opposing the review.
He says the duties which ranged from 71 to 72 plus percent on countervailing and 60 to 86 percent on antidumping were properly imposed and to review them this soon in the process doesn’t make sense and is just plain wrong.
Rehagen says his group’s next step is to convince the Trump Administration the duties were put in place properly and shouldn’t go through a review process.
Earlier this year the U.S. Commerce Department imposed the anti dumping and countervailing duties against Argentina because they found biodiesel imports from Argentina were massively subsidized and dumped injuring U.S. biodiesel producers.
