Indonesian officials say they’ll file a case at the World Trade Organization challenging countervailing duties placed on their biodiesel that’s exported to the United States. U.S. officials including the National Biodiesel Board asked for those duties because of biodiesel coming from both Indonesia and Argentina into the U.S. National Biodiesel Board CEO Donnell Rehagen says he thinks the U.S. has a good case against both Indonesia and Argentina.
He says it’ll take a long time for the appeals process to play out as well as any future cases filed at the WTO over the biodiesel dispute.
Rehagen says the U.S. action was taken against Argentina and Indonesia in order to ensure fair trade.
Argentinian officials are claiming the antidumping duties imposed by the U.S. against them and Indonesia are arbitrary and illegal.
