The new farm bill and maintaining a strong crop insurance program are the top issues among National Association of Wheat Grower members meeting in Washington D.C. this week. NAWG CEO Chandler Goule says they’re bringing their message about the importance of these programs to lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
He says they’re also concerned about a recent report on crop insurance released by the Congressional Budget Office indicating expenditures could be reduced for the program. Goule says that’s not CBO’s job.
Goule says Congress and the general public need to discount that report.
Goule says also wants to make sure negotiators come to an agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement.
