The United States is moving ahead with a World Trade Organization case against China regarding tariff rate quotas on wheat, corn and rice. The U.S. Trade Representative has asked the WTO dispute settlement body to consider investigating those TRQs when they meet August 31. National Association of Wheat Grower’s President Dave Schemm says America’s wheat growers are suffering economic losses from China’s actions.

He says China is violating WTO rules by placing those tariff rate quotas on U.S. products.

Schemm says while the case will take time, U.S. growers need resolution soon.

Since the U.S.T.R. started the action against China; Australia, Canada, the European Union and Thailand have joined the U.S. as third parties.
